Xiaomi please use Stock Android

It's about time to abandon MIUI

Slow and laggy

When i first used MIUI v3 in my nexus s back in 2012 it was nothing short of a revolution. MIUI was really better than stock android. MIUI started as a fork of cm but it changed the way android looked. It transformed android into something elegant and beautiful. MIUI V4 and V5 was again extra ordinary.  I think it was from MIUI 6 onwards that miui started lagging. Nowadays miui is a really laggy operating system when compared to stock android. I compared my MI4I with snapdragon 615 chipset to another device with the same specification moto g turbo...and moto g turbo was considerably faster. Even an old snapdragon 410 moto g3 was faster than mi4i..The point is stock android is much faster than miui on similiar hardware. Even my snapdragon 650 kenzo (Redmi note3) is slower than an old Snapdragon 617 Moto g4 plus.

Lack of android updates

Xiaomi has been a  failure at giving timely android updates. My mi4i and Redmi note 3 are still running an almost 1.5 year old lolipop. There even mi devices on kitkat even now. This is also due to miui. Since miui is such a heavy skin its impossible to keep it tested for bugs and update devices timely like google or motorolla.

Ads

Xiaomi have ads in MIUI..ads in an Operating system!!! never heard that before.

Xiaomi Bloatware

In addition to google bloatware xiaomi devices have a lot of xiaomi bloatware too...when comparing the most popular oem skins htc sense, samsung touchwiz and miui ; miui is the one with most bloatware. Even samsung has realised that bloatware slows phones down and kept newer versions of touchwiz significantly bloatfree.

Examples for Xiaomi bloatware: MI account, Mi compass, Mi notes, Mi scanner, Mi store, MI cloud, Mi security, Xiaomi assistant etc.

There is no excuse for adding bloatware when they can just put these mi apps in google play like asus and let users willingly downlaod it. Don't force your apps on us Xiaomi.with every new miui version xiaomi is adding even more bloatware.

Solutions to the Problem

Although miui is fully bloated miui has some good features like volume button unlock, Read mode etc. So it would be better if mi uses a stock rom like os and just add these features and may be just add some xiaomi apps if u so desires. Mi can do a feature test like HTC did. Mi app for a particular function will be compared to corresponding google app. The more functional one will be kept and other will be eliminated.

from 2012 onwards on all my android devices(Nexus S, Galaxy s3, Mi4i,Redmi note 3) i have been using MIUI. It was a wonder in the smartphone world. When android was struggling MIUI showed the light. But now android has grown up and MIUi is nothing but a laggy legend with a great past.

Dear Xiaomi,

i know MIUI is what made xiaomi..It is the signature of Xiaomi. But in India we say "even if its a golden tree, if it damages the house, its time to cut it down".

Please Avoid MIUI..or atleast give us an option to remove inbuilt apps like apple did in IOS 10. We don't want to run lolipop when Android O comes.

The Book of Dreams

“Every few decades a book is published that changes the lives of its readers forever. The Alchemist is such a book. You must read it.” One of my High School Teachers told me these words. I had forgotten those words and the book. But after a glimpse through the PTC Mysore library i found the book. I decided to give it a try and the experience was amazing. Paulo Coelho’s “The Alchemist” tell us the story of an Andalusian shepherd boy who is trying to find a treasure. It is an allegorical novel. It tries to communicate valuable messages to the readers metaphorically by using characters.  Through the story of the shepherd who went all the way back to the Egyptian pyramids to find his treasure the book inspires us to follow our heart and realise our dreams. Santiago is an Andalusian shepherd boy. His parents wanted him to be a priest. But he decides to follow his heart and become a shepherd instead as he loves travelling. He had a recurrent dream of a treasure which he could fi

Why we should stop blind fanboyism

A lot of people are buying smartphones out of blind fanboyism. People often buy smartphones without looking at what kind of specifications these devices have. For example what kind of SoCs (System on a Chip) these phones use. So they buy a device with a bad processor and after one or 2 months these devices started hanging and they blame Android. I had a friend who was a blind Nokia fan. He purchased Nokia N8 at the heights of Android popularity in 2012 and later found out painfully that Symbian OS is dying. Another friend of mine bought a Windows phone just so that he could own a Nokia device. When we using popular apps like Firefox or Chrome he was left out. When we were playing multiplayer games like Clash of Clans and Mini militia he was again left out. Then after Collapse of Nokia and HMD Global buying Nokia and deciding to release Android phones the guy decided to buy Android phones made buy Nokia. So he went for Nokia 5 with a Snapdragon 430 processor. It was overpriced at
